Glass DreamsGlass Dreams by Helen Laycock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is a fantastic children's book! I loved it!

Jake is a fantastic character! He's only 12, but he seemed very mature for his age. I loved his attitude. I'm not sure I was as focused at his age though!

This is an amazing story of a boy, a circus and a family secret. There are some other wonderful characters: Khala and Cedric, just to name a couple! Khala is a very brave person. She is also kind-hearted; I loved her warmth to a complete stranger. But I was horrified at the abuse she and the other circus performers had to deal with! Cedric made me laugh at his insistence of using Jake as a part of his knife throwing act! (He's absolutely terrible at it!).
There is enough action, adventure, danger and mystery in this book to get my heart pumping, never mind a child's!

Helen Laycock has written a fast paced action adventure that will keep even children with short attention spans hooked! I highly recommend this book for children from the age of 7 upwards. Adults may enjoy it too! - Lynn Worton

Surviving ELE (ELE, #4)Surviving ELE by Rebecca Gober
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Review 6******

This is the fourth book in the acclaimed ELE Series. I absolutely LOVED it!

Willow Mosby is a fantastic character! She has had to deal with a lot in her short life, but losing Tony may just break her. I love this character! She is only sixteen, but she has a maturity about her that has others looking up to her as a leader, even the adults.

As this is the fourth book in the series, I knew that I was heading for a rollercoaster ride of EPIC proportions! This book sure didn't disappoint! The story picks up from the cliffhanger at the end of the third book. I was completely engrossed in the story from start to finish! This book is full of danger, action and romance. I have come to love all the characters (except for Zack, of course!), and they come alive for me; I feel what they feel, and see what they see. More than once I was reduced to tears! Why, oh why, do book characters affect me so? (rhetorical question - I'm just a big softie at heart!). The twists and turns in this story continued to surprise me (although I should be used to expecting the unexpected in this series by now!). The story is just as fast paced as the other three, if not more so! The book ends on another cliffhanger, which is cruel punishment for readers such as myself, as I want to read the next story RIGHT NOW!!!

The writing partnership between Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels is as strong as ever, and I hope it remains so for a long time to come! Their combined writing styles compliment each other beautifully. They have created a world that is believable (which is somewhat terrifying!), and characters that are extremely memorable. I highly recommend this book (and series!) if you love YA Paranormal Romance or Dystopian novels. - Lynn Worton

The Three Moons Realm NovelThe Three Moons Realm Novel by J R Vernon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is a super little anthology! I loved it!

In the first story we meet an imp. He calls himself Zin. He is extremely clever and resourceful. I'm wondering what is in store for this creature.

In the second story we meet Dee. He is an orphan, living on the streets. He too is very resourceful. He has been given a mission, and I'm intrigued to find out if he succeeds.

In the third story Zarian, a warrior and leader, is introduced. He is a shrewd and wise person, but he is frustrated in not being able to go into battle. I hope he finds the battle he's been craving!

In the fourth story we meet Ketin. He is a deeply disturbed soul. I found his story quite distressing, but I was completely engrossed!

And lastly, we meet Berek. He is the Talon of the caravan. (I think that means leader!). He is a human living on his wits. I actually liked this character very much! He's got a wicked sense of humour!

This is an intriguing anthology that has me looking forward to reading the novel, Bound to the Abyss! The characters in this novella have their own personalities and outlooks. I am now wondering how these characters will interact in the novel!
These stories have a slight sci-fi feel to them. Each story is fast paced enough not to feel boring, and are extremely enjoyable! However, I must point out that a few of the stories do contain violence. This didn't ruin my enjoyment, but may disturb some readers.

James Vernon has written an extremely entertaining anthology/novella that has captured my attention. If his novel is as good as this novella, then he will have found a fan friend in me! I highly recommend this book if you love science fiction. - Lynn Worton
