Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Romance Series Book 2)
Felicity Heaton
The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her—not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.

Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts—vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom’s brash, lethally seductive demon king—a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.

As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?

Claimed by a Demon King is available from Amazon Kindle, Kobo Books, Barnes and Noble Nook, Apple iBooks stores and other retailers. Also available in paperback. Find the links to your preferred retailer at: http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/cbadk

My Review:

Claimed by a Demon KingClaimed by a Demon King by Felicity E. Heaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Eternal Mates series. I loved it!

Sable is a fantastic character. She is Olivia's (from Eternal Mates #1) best friend and a Hunter; one of the elite warriors working for Archangel, which is an organisation that polices the paranormal citizens living on Earth. I liked this character very much, as she is most definitely feisty! Her "shoot first, take prisoners second" attitude made me smile. She has a tendency to "leap before looking" and can get herself into some awkward situations. However, she is loyal and protective of her friends. I really enjoyed getting to know her better.

Thorne is the Demon King of the Third Realm, and is a most intriguing character. I only got a small glimpse of him near the end of the first book in the series, so was excited to meet him properly in his own story. He is a fierce warrior and leader of his people in his kingdom. He can be a bit arrogant, but he is a fair ruler. However, he also has a tender side that not many people get to see. When he first meets Sable, he realises she is his Eternal Mate, but winning her heart may be one of the hardest battles he has ever fought!

When I was offered the opportunity to read this book, I grabbed it with both hands! I am glad I did, because it is a fantastic continuation of the series. This book is full of danger, action and romance, coupled with two strong characters, which kept me hooked from start to finish! The story is told from mainly Sable's and Thorne's point of view, which gives the reader an opportunity to understand their thoughts and feelings. However, there is a fly in the ointment, and he's called Bleu. I liked Bleu's character in Kissed by a Dark Prince, but he hasn't won any points with me in this book! I am not overly fond of love triangles, and this Elfin warrior muddies up the waters quite nicely. However, that being said, this doesn't mean that it wasn't entertaining to watch the drama unfold! It was also a pleasant surprise to meet some of the characters from the Vampire Erotic Theatre series again! I must admit that I rather miss those vampires (not to mention the other paranormal characters in the series.), especially Snow and Antoine; that scene was rather intense, to say the least! And speaking of intense, there is a HUGE battle scene that was described in such a way that I felt I was actually there! In fact, the characters came alive for me too, and I felt that Thorne and Sable could walk through my door at any moment! There are a few twists and turns that surprised me and kept me guessing. I can't wait to see what surprises the next book in the series has to hold! This book could be read on it's own, but some of the story could be confusing to a few readers, if they haven't read the first book in the series.

Felicity Heaton has written another fast paced, sexy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I love her writing style, which flows effortlessly from scene to scene. She is number one on my favourite authors list!

I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the extremely HOT and explicit sexual scenes. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love sexy paranormal romances full of vampires, elves, werewolves, succubi, incubi, angels, dragons and demons. - Lynn Worton

Claimed by a Demon King – Excerpt
Sable paced, hoping to work off at least a little of her tension before Loren arrived with his elves. She really didn’t need him noticing that she was wound tighter than he had ever been during his courtship of her best friend, Olivia.

She could do this. Mark had told her as much before she had left his office barely an hour ago. He wanted to give her the title of commander and this was her test. She wouldn’t fail him and she wouldn’t let anything stand in the way of her achieving that rank.

She had busted her arse over the past month, working twice as hard as normal in order to convince Mark and the senior staff that she was the perfect candidate for the role of commander on this mission.

It had absolutely nothing to do with getting a pass into Hell and seeing Thorne again.

Not at all.

She was going because she wanted the position of commander.

A familiar female voice cut off a deep male one and Sable smiled as she turned to glance across the courtyard.

Their transport was arriving. Scores of elves dressed in their tight black scale-like armour appeared before her eyes, the air shimmering around them. Prince Loren led them across the courtyard towards her, his long strides eating up the distance and his left hand resting on the hilt of the black sword sheathed at his waist. His black eyebrows knit into scowl and his purple eyes darkened.

The slight brunette beside him shook her head, causing her long chestnut hair to sway against the shoulders of her dark t-shirt, and waved him away. “I’ve told you a million times, Loren… I am going on this mission.”

Loren’s lips compressed into a thin line. Olivia was trying her mate’s patience again. He looked ready to grab her and teleport her back to the realm of the elves and leave her there.

Olivia had a mean stubborn streak though and that was another reason why Sable had been eager to win this mission. Olivia was her best friend at Archangel and she didn’t want her friend in the firing line during a war, but having her there was necessary. They needed a doctor on hand to take care of any injured. That and Sable needed the moral support of her friend on this mission. She would go crazy without her.

“Olivia,” Loren started and then seemed to think the better of whatever he had intended to say and scrubbed a hand over his face instead. He threw Sable a pleading glance.

Sable shrugged. Helping him was above her pay grade. She couldn’t overturn a decision made by Mark and the board of senior staff. Loren scowled again and turned back to his mate, speaking in a low voice now.

Sable glanced at Bleu as he strode to his prince’s right, meeting his green gaze. It was strange seeing him in better control of his emotions than Loren was, able to retain a more mortal appearance, concealing his normal purple irises and pointed ears.

She smiled at Bleu as Olivia began to rant.

Bleu raked long fingers through his wild black-blue hair and gave her a warm smile in return.

“I am going whether you like it or not,” Olivia snapped at Loren and then softened. “I know you’re worried but I’ll have you there with me, and Sable too. Archangel assigned me to this mission as the medic and to research any new species we encounter… and you know both of those things are very important to me. So I’m going and that’s final.”

Loren looked as if he had just lost a war. His shoulders slumped and he let out a long, weary breath. “Very well, Ki’ara.”

Bleu shook his head. “Olivia, you sound more like my sister every day.”

Olivia didn’t look sure whether that was a compliment or not. Sable had seen Bleu often over the past few weeks. He had visited Archangel whenever Loren had and Loren was rarely away from Olivia when she was working.

The dark elf commander was a great sparring partner and had helped Sable step up her game during their training matches. She was glad he didn’t hold back when he was fighting her.

Well, he didn’t hold back much. She knew he wasn’t going all out on her and in a way, she was glad. She had seen him fight and part of her knew she wouldn’t stand a chance against him, even if her pride wouldn’t allow her to admit it.

The only time Bleu hadn’t been with Loren was when his sister had returned to his family home for a rare visit. Bleu had disappeared like a shot. Sable had asked about this elusive sister and Loren had informed her that Bleu had only one sibling, a younger sister, and that he was forever getting her out of scrapes, but that only seemed to make him love her more dearly.

The indulgent and amused twinkle in his eyes at times made Sable feel that he was beginning to view Olivia with similar brotherly affection. It would be nice for Olivia to have family again after everything she had been through.

Sable idly rubbed her right wrist, her thumb caressing the stylised black cross on the inside of it, and tamped down the dark thoughts that threatened to rise and ruin her mood.

“Is everyone ready?” She checked her assembled team and then the elves. Loren had finally given up trying to convince Olivia not to come on the mission and was speaking with Bleu and several of his men. He motioned towards the crates and baggage, and a group of elves broke away, heading towards them.

The rest of the elves made their way over to her team, one for each member. A few low giggles broke the silence as the female hunters in her unit met the tall, darkly beautiful male who would be teleporting them.

Sable sighed this time. “Rein it in. This is a mission, not a Club 18-30 holiday. Remember that.”

Her hunters jolted to attention and nodded as one.

Sable just hoped that she could remember it. Whenever she thought about seeing Thorne again, she got the jitters. Stupid of her considering she had only met him once and for little more than a handful of hours. It hadn’t stopped her from desperately trying not to hang on every word whenever Loren had spoken of the demon king. It wasn’t like her, but she couldn’t help herself. Something fundamental inside her had changed the moment Thorne had barged into her life.

Thorne met often with Loren to discuss their arrival and arrangements, and to keep him abreast of the situation in the Third Realm.

Loren relayed everything to her.

It hadn’t satisfied her in the slightest. Loren never said how Thorne was coping with everything or how he seemed to him.

She wanted to know how he was doing and wanted to see that he was still well, and still the same brash male she had met a month ago. Of course, she refused to admit that to Olivia whenever her friend pressed her about Thorne, and her friend had pressed a lot over the long four weeks.

Sable had denied everything, refusing to admit that she couldn’t stop thinking about the demon king.

She couldn’t get that moment in the cafeteria out of her head. Thorne had teleported them back to Archangel after they had defeated Kordula, freeing Loren’s brother Vail from the bitch-witch’s spell. Thorne had stood with his hand on Sable’s arm, as if he couldn’t bring himself to let her go, and had stared at her for so long that she had ended up lost in his crimson gaze. He had opened his mouth to speak, had turned frustrated about something, and had teleported out of her life as quickly as he had come into it, leaving her confused and curious.

What had Thorne wanted to say to her?

Whatever had been balanced on those firm sensual lips, she wished he had just come out and said it because it had been driving her completely crazy. She had found herself pondering it at the strangest times. Dangerous times. A hunt was no place to lose track of your surroundings. That moment kept invading her head though, replaying in infinite detail, every shift in his body language and expression captured perfectly. With each replay, she found herself wanting to know more than ever what he had meant to say.

The first chance she had, she was asking him about it.

Sable grimaced and reminded herself again that she was going to Hell on a mission, not just to see Thorne. This was about the mission. This was about her future with Archangel. This wasn’t about the big, rough, demon male.

She jolted when someone took hold of her arm and looked up into Bleu’s eyes. Flecks of purple broke through the green, slowly taking over until not a trace of emerald remained. His violet gaze narrowed on her and he moved closer, towering over her, a vision of dark beauty and lethal grace. His lips parted, flashing white daggers at her. His fangs were down. The tips of his ears turned pointed. He had shaken off his mortal guise, revealing his true nature.

“Ready?” he murmured, his fingers lightly flexing around her arm and his gaze locked intently on her.

Sable blinked herself back the courtyard and nodded.

Her world disappeared in a swirl of cold black shadows. She closed her eyes against it. The heat of the sun on her skin gave way to the icy chill and then became a blast of moist warm air. The shrouding silence of the portal shattered under the explosion of grunts and roars and the metallic clang of weapons clashing.

The scent of morning became the odour of blood.

Sable snapped her eyes open and her heart leaped and pounded, quickening her blood and preparing her body.

The first thing she saw was Thorne shirtless and swinging his enormous broadsword at an equally massive bare-chested warrior. His opponent blocked with his own blade and growled, flashing huge fangs as he swung a meaty fist. The blow connected with Thorne’s right cheek and he stumbled, grunting as he struggled to regain his footing and ready his blade to defend himself.

Sable’s hand instantly went to the folded crossbow at her side and she flicked it open, pushing away from Bleu at the same time. Another immense demon attacked Thorne before he managed to right himself and the dagger sliced across the Third King’s thickly muscled right shoulder.

Thorne roared and finally launched himself at the males, taking them both on at once. They weren’t alone. The wide oval courtyard of the dark stone fortress was in pandemonium. Sable counted at least two dozen demons, all focused on him with their weapons drawn and at the ready. No other fought on his side.

The sight of him standing alone against so many adversaries, bleeding from multiple wounds on his torso and arms, brought a red haze down over her vision.

We get up at the same time and she follows me outside the door. The door comes out on the side of the house so we walk back to the pool. "It must be nice to have these views every day," I say standing at the edge of the pool.
"It is," she replies. "I love it here. I'm going to miss this place. I'm going to try to come back after senior year for college." She stops behind me. My tattoo must be slightly showing from the sides of my shirt because she starts tracing the outline. The light caressing of her finger sends chills down my arms. "Usually people our age doesn't have tattoos, what does it mean?"
I usually don't talk about my tattoo because it's mine and mine alone. Something I don't want shared with the world. I've never told anyone what it means; not even Ryland. That's the reason it's in Latin. She whispers, "Infragilis."
For some reason though, I want to tell her. "Unbreakable. It's Latin." I expect her to ask me a lot of questions; to quiz me on the meaning, but she surprises me when I hear nothing at all, just a sigh of contentment.
She runs her finger down my back. She clasps her small hands around my waist. The feel of her so close makes me close my eyes. I begin to turn around when she pushes me off the side, causing me to fall into the pool.
I come up for air, completely soaked, to her bent over laughing. "What was that for?" I'm trying hard to sound mad, but her laughter is contagious and before I know it I'm laughing along with her.
She stands upright, placing her hands on her hips. "That's for earlier." She winks. "I don't get mad; I get even."
I come to the edge, placing my palms flat on the cement, pulling myself up. She doesn't realize she just made this a game. I can do this all night. It's in my competitive nature. I'm trailing water as I stalk towards her. She is still laughing a little until she looks me in the eyes. Her eyes widen as she realizes what I'm doing and takes off running.
I chase after her around the yard. She's pretty quick to be so short and dainty, but no match for me. I play baseball and football back home and I'm one of the fastest guys on the team. I'm not even breaking a sweat and I'm on her heels. I'm giving her a few minutes lead just to toy with her, allowing her to think she's won. Right before she gets to the gate, I increase my stride and wrap my arm around her waist causing her to scream out. When she realized it was a little loud, she slaps her hand over her mouth trying not to cause a commotion with Ryland's parents.
I pull her backward towards me and scoop her into my arms, cradling her. She places her arms around my neck for stability, but begins kicking her legs trying to break free from my grasp. "There's not a chance I'm letting you get away now, sweetheart. I always love a good challenge."
She looks at the pool getting closer with each step and turns back to me. "You wouldn't dare." She narrows her eyes. "Breyson, no!"
"Oh but I would," I say and take off running towards the pool. I jump off the deep end of the pool with her in my arms. Breaking through the water, I release her so we can come back up for air.
She breaks the surface, brushing her hair back out of her face laughing. "The water is freezing. I can't believe you did that!" She splashes water at me. "I didn't bring any extra clothes."
Her thin satin top is clinging to her body, revealing the outline of her bra and cleavage. For the top to be so conservative, reaching all the way to her neck in which it connects with the back fabric; this is by far the sexiest view I've ever had. There is something to be said about a woman that leaves a little to the imagination. When it's all out there for the world to see, for some reason it's less appealing.
"I wouldn't worry about clothes. I'm sure we can find you something. She is wading in the middle of the pool and I am closer to the farther side. I begin making my way towards her, my eyes never leaving hers. She has the slightest smile on her face. When she sees me coming towards her, she begins swimming backwards slowly. "You trying to run from me?" I begin grinning because she is getting closer to the side, leaving less room for her to go.
"You trying to catch me?" She counters sarcastically. You gotta love a girl with a little spunk. Her back finally reaches the corner of the pool, not far from the diving board. She turns around noticing that she is now trapped and I have her right where I want her. She bites the corner of her lip.
I stop right before her, grabbing the edge of the pool in hand on each side of her. "Maybe I am. I know a good catch when I see one." Her eyes are slightly hooded like earlier, giving me the answer to the question in my head. She is giving me the consent that she feels the way I feel right now. I close the distance between us. The warmth of our bodies mingling around us. The water isn't so cold anymore. I wrap one of her legs at a time around me to support her against the wall. I remain holding one edge of the pool and place the other on her neck.
I lean in closer, our lips just a breath apart. "Stop running Kinzleigh." Her eyes close as she releases a sigh. I can't stop myself anymore. I don't want to. I don't care if I have to go back home in a few days. I would rather have a few days I'll never forget than spend the rest of my life in regret. I softly kiss her lips before sucking the droplets of water from them slowly, savoring her taste. They are so full and soft. She slowly relaxes, letting me suck and pull at her bottom lip. I can feel her inexperience as she allows me to lead her lips where I want them. I slightly lick her lip requesting entry in which she grants. As I slide my tongue inside I seek out hers; it's warm and moist entangling with mine.
I run my hand from her neck down the seam of her body, stopping at her waist, just before testing the waters and cupping her bottom. It feels as good as I envisioned it would feel and it's covered in denim. I can't imagine how it would feel bare. I continue to kiss and suck her lip, guiding her tongue in the perfect rhythm with mine. As she slides her tongue inside my mouth, I clench it in my lips and lightly suck it and release. The lowest moan escapes her perfect lips.
My hormones are raging. I can't help it. Holding her by the butt, I pull her closer at the waist. My erection is pressing between her legs. Even in this pool of cool water, I can feel the heat radiating from inside the opening at her thighs. A growl comes from within my chest, causing her to slightly bite my bottom lip. Oh damn, for the first time in my entire life I feel like I could release my seed right here and she hasn't even touched me. She brings her arms up around my neck interlocking her fingers at the back.
I lightly rub my erection over the jeans pressed against her, between her legs. She rolls her head to the side giving me access to her neck. I kiss just below the lobe of her ear and run my tongue lightly down her neck, stopping at the top of her exposed shoulder.
She begins to get a little bold and sways her hips from side to side. "If you keep doing that, I'm going to lose my control and I won't be able to stop."
She lifts her head and looks at me, smiling mischievously and kisses the area on the front of my neck between my collar bone. She lightly trails kisses higher up my neck. "Kinzleigh, you're playing with fire," I warn. She clamps her legs tighter behind my back and clenches the muscles between her legs that is pressed against me.
I can't take it anymore. Without thinking, my hand goes for the button of her pants as I take her lips, more roughly this time. I finally pull away to look her in the eyes. I rest my forehead against hers. "I'll have to go inside and get a condom from my wallet if you want to go any further." I look in her eyes and her breathing is quickening. She looks like she is thinking about it, which only tells me one thing.
"Kinzleigh, you have had sex before right?" I really thought Ryland was blowing smoke up my ass when he was talking about her being inexperienced with guys, but I really didn't think he meant literally none. I will not be the one to take her virginity. That is a connection and attachment I stay away from. Plus, she doesn't deserve that. Her first time should be with someone who has a warm beating heart; mine turned to ice a long time ago.
She isn't looking at me. As a matter of fact she is staring at the water. She releases my neck. "No, I haven't okay. Does it really matter whether I have or not. Since when do guys care about that sort of thing? It's just sex right. Maybe it's time I stop trying to be so perfect. Look at where it's getting me. Nothing is going the way I planned. A few weeks from now my life will be over as I know it. Maybe I should just live for myself and have fun like everyone else. It's kind of perfect really, if you think about it. You can help me get it out of the way and then we won't ever see each other again once you leave. No lies, no expectations, just fun."
Dammit! Why on earth does she have to be a virgin? I run my fingers through my wet hair. I want her; so bad I can't stand it. I've never turned down a girl that looks even half as beautiful as her and I'll probably hate myself for this. She may not want any attachments, but I can't do it to her. She deserves better. I want to claim her as my own; mark her mine, but at what costs? "Let's go inside and change clothes and we'll continue this there." I kiss her softly and lift her to sit on the side of the pool. I lift myself out of the pool and standing up, I reach for her hand. "Come on beautiful."

Book Review of Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy 2) by Deborah Harkness

It began with A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES. Historian Diana Bishop, descended from a line of powerful witches, and long-lived vampire Matthew Clairmont have broken the laws dividing creatures. Seeking safety, Diana and Matthew travel back in time to London, 1590. But they soon realise that the past may not provide a haven. Reclaiming his former identity as poet and spy for Queen Elizabeth, the vampire falls back in with a group of radicals known as the School of Night. Many are unruly daemons, the creative minds of the age, including playwright Christopher Marlowe and mathematician Thomas Harriot. Together Matthew and Diana scour Tudor London for the elusive manuscript Ashmole 782, and search for the witch who will teach Diana how to control her remarkable powers... Fall under the spell of Diana and Matthew once more in this stunning, richly imagined, epic tale.

Review:

Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2)Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the All Souls Trilogy. I loved it!

Diana Bishop is a fantastic character. She is a very powerful witch, but having been magic bound as a child, she is unable to control her magic. However, after finding a missing alchemical manuscript in the Bodleian Library, all manner of creatures start to come out of the woodwork, and danger is not far behind. I loved this character from the beginning. She is quite headstrong and determined to unravel the mystery of the manuscript, but she is also unskilled as a witch and requires help.

Matthew Clairmont is another fantastic character. He is a geneticist, who also happens to be a vampire. He is an enigmatic person, but as the story progressed, I got to see more of this character's temperament and some of his layers were stripped away. He is an extremely complex man, and has many layers yet undiscovered. I have loved getting to know him better.

I got this book in audio format, because I had previously listened to A Discovery of Witches whilst doing household chores and fell in love with it. This book is narrated by the same person, and this helped me get back into the story pretty quickly. Jennifer Ikeda does a fantastic job bringing the book and characters to life. Her narration was clear, precise and exciting! I loved the way she gave each character their own accent and personality.

This story see's Diana and Matthew travelling back in time to the year 1590. I am not exactly a huge history buff, but I am interested in some history. Therefore, having a chance to peek into the lives of those living in Elizabethan England, even if fictionalized and not completely true, was very exciting. I could tell that the author had done a lot of research, but may have embellished a few facts and fictionalized a few for dramatic effect. Nevertheless, her descriptions brought the past to life wonderfully.
Matthew is known in this time as Matthew Roydon. His life during this time was full of intrigue and danger. Why he thought Diana would be safe in this time frame is a slight mystery to me, but I can understand some of his reasoning. There were a fair few witches during this time, so it should be easy to find one to help Diana. However, this is a dangerous time for witches, and finding one powerful enough, and brave enough, to help proves harder than first thought.
There are a lot of characters that pepper this book. I loved meeting all them; from Queen Elizabeth to the famous men of the "School of Night", Goody Allsop and even Jack and Annie. Father Hubbard is a rather creepy and dangerous vampire. I certainly wouldn't want to meet him! The one character that I liked meeting above all was Matthew's father, Phillipe. He is an imposing figure with a forceful personality. However, under that gruff exterior is a sensitive man who loves his son very much. I loved his slightly puritanical outlook, but his generosity in accepting Diana into his family floored me.
Though this book is told mostly through Diana's point of view, there are a few flashes back (or is that forward?) into the present, which shows what is happening whilst Diana and Matthew are away.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this story, along with a few surprises, that kept me hooked! I cannot wait to get the final book in the trilogy as soon as possible! However, I will be sad too, because I have grown to love these characters, and will miss them once the story is finished.

Deborah Harkness has written a fantastic sequel. She has created a world where humans, witches, daemons and vampires all live in an uneasy alliance. I love her writing style, which is fast paced and exciting, and the story flowed beautifully! She has found another fan of her work in me.

I highly recommend this book if you love your stories to be full of witches, daemons and vampires, or if you love paranormal romance or urban fantasy genres. - Lynn Worton

My Review:

Worth the Chance (MMA Fighter, #2)Worth the Chance by Vi Keeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is a fantastic erotic romance! I loved it!

Olivia Michael's (Liv to her friends) is a fantastic character. She is a journalist and is trying to land her dream job. I liked this character a lot! She is tenacious and determined to succeed. When her boss sends her on an assignment, she finds herself confronted by the boy who broke her heart.

Vince Stone (Vinnie) is another fantastic character. I first met him as a troubled teen with a chip on his shoulder in Worth the Fight. He has now grown up and is on his way to winning the MMA (mixed martial arts) Championship. He has grown up to be a charming, handsome, slightly arrogant man, who is also supremely confident in his abilities. When he meets Liv again, sparks fly!

I have been eagerly awaiting this book, ever since it was announced by the author that she would be writing Vince's story. I loved young Vinnie, but Vince is HOT! This story is a fast paced, emotional roller coaster ride for both the characters and the reader. I struggled to put this book down, and got very annoyed when I had to! The story is told from both Liv's and Vince's points of view, which gives the reader an opportunity to see their thoughts and feelings. Some of these view points are flash backs, and it was interesting to see how Liv's and Vince's relationship first developed as teenagers. It was also wonderful to meet Nico and Elle again. They are both wonderful people. I've missed them! There is drama, intrigue and romance aplenty in this story! There is also a surprise or two, which kept me enthralled. Some men like breasts, some like legs, but Vince is a bum man! The chemistry between Liv and Vince is electric and unashamedly hot! I really enjoyed the story, and am looking forward to reading more books in the MMA series, especially Jax's.

Vi Keeland has written another fast paced erotic romance that kept me hooked from start to finish! She has a fantastic writing style, which I really love. I have added this author to my favourite authors list.

As this is an erotic romance, there are several scenes of a sexual nature that are rather explicit. Therefore, I do not recommend this book for readers younger than 18. However, if you love hot, steamy erotic romances, this book is for you! - Lynn Worton

Review:

Alice Parker & The Sound of the Silent (Alice Parker, #4)Alice Parker & The Sound of the Silent by Nicola Palmer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the fourth book in the Alice Parker's Adventures for children. I loved it!

Alice Parker is a fantastic character! She is a very special girl. She is a Finwip (a descendant of fairies), and the only Finwip able to fly. Her abilities and powers are growing, but when she starts hearing pigeons talking to her, even she thinks she is going crazy! I loved this girl when I first met her in the first book, Alice Parker's Metamorphosis. But, I am absolutely in awe of how this character has grown in each book. She has gained confidence each time she has had to face a difficult challenge. However, this may be the strangest challenge yet!

This is a fantastic continuation of the series! I have wanted to read this book for a while. The Finwips are a fascinating group of people. They have many different and unique abilities that range from invisibility to super sensitive hearing. Alice finds herself embroiled in another exciting adventure that had me sitting on the edge of the seat! She is convinced that she must be going crazy, because she keeps hearing voices, and a pigeon seems to be following her all over London. The suspense and mystery kept me hooked. There is even a re-appearance of an old enemy. However, things are not what they seem and when all is revealed, I was completely surprised! This is a fast paced, action packed adventure that will keep children from the ages of 9-13 completely engrossed! In fact, I struggled to put it down myself! There are several twists and turns that had me guessing, and I was even in tears at one point. I have no idea when the next book will be available, but I would love to read it as soon as it's released!

Nicola Palmer has written an amazing children's series that is enchanting, exciting and all round good fun! Her writing style is fast paced, but easy enough for youngsters to read and follow. She is one of my favourite children's book authors!

I highly recommend this book (and series) to children and adults alike! - Lynn Worton

Book Review of Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series #2) by Felicity Heaton

Synopsis:

USA Today Best-Selling Paranormal Romance Author Felicity Heaton presents:

Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 2)
The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her--not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.

Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts--vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom's brash, lethally seductive demon king--a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.

As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?

Paranormal Romance Books in the Eternal Mates Series
Kissed by a Dark Prince
Claimed by a Demon King

Review:

Cover Reveal & Giveaway: Honor Among Orcs by Amalia Dillin

Honor Among Orcs
by Amalia Dillin

Designed by: Melissa Stevens (Website)
Publication Date: April 1, 2014
Series: Orc Saga, Book One
Genre: Fantasy (18+)

After nearly a decade as the king’s whipping-girl, Princess Arianna has no intention of going quietly into marriage to some treasonous noble, or serving obediently as the king’s spy until her death is more convenient. When she discovers a handsome orc, chained and trapped inside a magic mirror, Arianna cannot help but see a lasting freedom from her father's abuse.

Left to rot inside a mirror by the king, Bolthorn never imagined his prayers would be answered by a princess. Nor did he ever expect to meet so worthy a woman after knowing her father’s cruelty. He needs her help to escape the mirror before the king marches against the orcs, but all he can offer Arianna is ice and darkness in exchange for her aid.

If Arianna can free the monster behind the glass, perhaps she might free herself, as well. But once they cross the mountain, there will be no return, and the deadly winter is the least of what threatens them on the other side. Romance blossoms in this gripping fantasy adventure.

EXCERPT

He knew these woods, sparse as they had become, and when they broke, he knew the tundra of the foothills too. Just before dawn, he found the outcrop beneath which he had made a shelter his first night beyond the mountains, and though he did not dare to light a fire, the sedge made a soft bed.

After a meal of apples and cheese, the last of their food, Arianna curled against his side, sharing the fur, and rested her head on his shoulder. He tested her forehead for fever and breathed his relief when she did not burn against his palm.

She tugged his hand away, a small smile curving her lips. “You worry overmuch. There are still two days of warmth before I must fight your cruel winds. I will be well enough for your mountains by then.”

His fingers lingered against her skin and her smile faded. He traced the clan-markings on her cheek and her lips parted, her heart thrumming in his ears.

“Bolthorn –”

Up the bridge of her nose and over her eyebrow, the umber flaked from her skin, coloring his fingertip. Down along the line of her jaw, to the pulse point beneath. Her breathing hitched. He only wished the marks had reached her collarbone, to give him some excuse to trail his fingers across the smooth skin there.

“You make a beautiful orc.”

“Not a Vala?” she asked, her eyelashes sweeping across her cheek.

“The Vala cannot marry.” The sunlight caught in her hair, flashing reds within the rich brown and he smoothed the soft, wild strands from her face. “They cannot bear children, or know the touch of any kind of man after they have made their vows. They know only the ancestors and the mysteries they reveal.”

“Oh,” she breathed.

Oh. It was the first thing she had ever said to him, trembling against the stone. She trembled now, too. As she should, he thought, knowing herself within the arms of an orc. He closed his eyes and drew his hand back. This was a dangerous game to play with her so near, so vulnerable.

“Sleep well, princess,” he said, his jaw tight against his need. “You’ll want your strength.”

She made a noise in the back of her throat, but when he glanced at her, she had turned away.
